Britney: For the Record (2008)
So much sadness in her eyes.
I watch a documentary about her a few weeks ago. It was about notes from her diary and about her life. She was such an incredibly smart women. She hated the dumb blonde she always played in movies but they were the only movies she was getting offered at the time. The men in the industry didn’t take her seriously. The documentary made me cry. So many people are quick to call her “stupid” or “slut” but these are people that no NOTHING about her or her story.
Several personal friends of Norma’s account that Marilyn was essentially a split personality, that “Marilyn” was an escape from being Norma. One such account claimed that, while in the ladies room powdering their faces whilst on a double date, the friend asked Norma what she was looking at in the mirror, to which Norma Jean answered, “Marilyn. I’m looking at Marilyn. Isn’t she beautiful?” Marilyn Monroe is as much of an enigma as she is a pop culture icon.
That’s probably my favorite story I’ve ever heard about her, because it leaves one wondering what really went on inside her head.
